About the Program
Jazz
Saturdays is a jazz workshop series held in
Boise, Idaho and underwritten by Gayle Manufacturing
Company of Nampa, Idaho (Jim DeBlasio, CEO). The
workshops present a variety of guest artists from across
the nation and provide an extraordinary opportunity for
jazz education and appreciation in Boise and the
surrounding Treasure Valley.
The workshops occur on September 28, 2002 and March 15, 2003.
"Jazz Saturdays" will also be presenting the Acoustic Jazz Quartet
as part of the 8th Annual CSI Jazz Summit at the College of Southern Idaho
in Twin Falls on Friday, January 24, 2003 and Saturday, January 25, 2003. The workshops are offered free
of charge to musicians of all age and ability levels. Individuals who

About the Director

Jazz Saturdays is
under the direction of saxophonist/jazz educator Brent Jensen. He
has taught jazz studies at Whitman College, Washington State University,
Northwest Nazarene College, and Boise State University. He is currently
the Director of Jazz Studies at the College of Southern Idaho in Twin
Falls. Brent has studied saxophone and jazz improvisation with Lee
Konitz in New York City and Gregory Yasinitsky at Washington State
University. He was featured in the August 1996 issue of Jazziz
magazine as one of twelve winners in an international jazz talent
search ("Woodwindson Fire"). Brent's debut CD on Origin
Records "The Sound of a Dry Martini:
Remembering Paul Desmond" (Origin 82396) charted on national
jazz radio's Top 50 for 13 weeks in the Spring of 2002. His latest
release is "Stay Cool" (Origin 82403) with tenor saxophonist
David Sills.
