http://www.goethe.de/enindex.htm

The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institution operational worldwide.
We promote the study of German abroad and encourage international cultural exchange. We also foster knowledge about Germany by providing information on its culture, society and politics.

With our network of Goethe-Instituts, Goethe-Centres, cultural societies, reading rooms and exam and language centres we have played a central role in the cultural and educational policies of Germany for over 50 years.

We draw our information from the many sections of our cosmopolitan society and culture, combining the experience and ideas of our partners with our cross-cultural expertise. We work on the principle of dialogue and partnership, offering our support to all those actively involved with Germany and its language and culture. We are an autonomous body and politically independent.

We embrace the politicocultural challenges of globalisation. We achieve this through communication, developing innovative concepts for a more humane world where cultural diversity is welcomed as an enrichment of our society. Our partners are public and private cultural institutions, the federal states, local authorities and the world of commerce.

Much of the Goethe-Institut's overall budget consisits of yearly grants from the German Foreign Office and the German Press Office. Our relationship with the Foreign Office is governed by general agreement.

Self generated income and contributions from sponsors and patrons, partners and friends broaden the scope of our work.

The Goethe-Institut carefully coordinates its activities with other mediators of cultural and educational foreign policy.

Reshape Your Life. 3 Shapes Aikido.

Aikido is a Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba (1983-69). On a purely physical level it is an art involving some throws and joint locks. Aikido focuses not on punching or kicking opponents, but rather on using their own energy to gain control of them or to throw them away from you. It is not a static art, but places great emphasis on motion and the dynamics of movement.

Upon closer examination, practitioners will find from Aikido what they are looking for, whether it is applicable self-defense technique, spiritual enlightenment, physical health or peace of mind. Ueshiba emphasized the moral and spiritual aspects of this art, placing great weight on the development of harmony and peace. "The Way of Harmony of the Spirit" is one way that "Aikido" may be translated into English. This is still true of Aikido today, although different styles emphasize the more spiritual aspects to greater or lesser degrees. Although the idea of a martial discipline striving for peace and harmony may seem paradoxical, it is the most basic tenet of the art.

Founded in March of 2001 by AlejAndro Anastasio, 3 Shapes Aikido is located in Boise’s North End Community. Our Mission Statement is “Building a World Class Dojo Through Personal Growth in the Art of Aikido, Family Participation, and Community Involvement. Our goal is personal growth through the art of Aikido. We offer classes for 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, 13-18, and adults.

As a family and community based dojo--- martial art school, we focus on family participation and community involvement. Our school has hosted some of the greatest Aikidoists in the country here in Boise to help spread Aikido. We support our community with art shows, theater presentations, a clothing drive, and open mic nights open to the public. Classical guitar, didgeridoo, Native American flute and theremin concerts for the support of the arts. We also have hosted a number of Dharma, Zen, Yoga, and Meditation retreats.

Boise Community Radio

http://www.radioboise.org/

Boise Community Radio (BCR) is a grassroots, volunteer-based, nonprofit organization established in 2002 to create southwest Idaho's only locally programmed, non-commercial, community-based radio station. BCR will have a daily impact within the community by creating and encouraging opportunities for residents of the area to access local media. BCR seeks to cultivate a stronger sense of "Place" in the Treasure Valley by upholding programming principles designed to inspire thoughtful discussion and enhance social, cultural and environmental awareness. Programming will be based on public interest, community service and musical diversity. The Treasure Valley is the largest area in the nation that is not served by a community-based radio station.

Boise Community Radio was recently issued a "construction permit" from the FCC, authorizing us to broadcast on 89.9 FM. The proposed coverage area of over 3,000 square miles will stretch from Ontario, OR to the east side of Boise. Our internet broadcast, RadioBoise, offers 24-hours of cultural programming a day, including music, local issues-based content and nationally distributed independent news and public affairs programming. Over 25 different issues-oriented programs are now available, including daily editions of Democracy Now!, and Free Speech Radio News.
Dozens of programmers and producers contribute to RadioBoise and help prepare us for the eventual transition to conventional, terrestrial radio.

Boise Community Radio will be on the air as soon as we can raise adequate funding within the community. Our fundraising campaign will raise $250,000 in local donations for equipment purchases and operational expenses. Online donations and volunteer forms can be submitted at our homepage.
